Ah, finally! A Kythira wedding (or Kythera or Kithira)! What a magnificent place, an island that withstood time having lost many of it’s inhabitants due to emigration. People left Kythira emigrating to urban cities in Greece and abroad to Australia, USA and Germany to name a few. This is the story of Nicholas and Panayiota children of Greek immigrants born and raised in Australia. Their love of Kythira island, brought them back deciding to spent their best day of their life back home.
Organizing a Kythira Wedding
Living abroad (Australia) the task of organizing your wedding in Kythira is a massive task. For Greeks living abroad, family plays a key role by helping out. Nicholas and Panayiota certainly made it easy for me (and them) by starting discussing wedding photography in Kythira really early. A destination wedding in Kythira might seem a daunting task to some, but by being organised everything falls in plan, eventually! I have only good words for those two guys. Not only they believed in me and my team, we discussed ideas and wedding photography scenarios before coming to a game plan.
The wedding day started early with the getting ready sessions of Nicholas on his hometown (Avlemonas) and Panayiota at El Sol hotel overlooking Chora and the castle. Congrats to the wedding party, photos and video come out extremely well showing what really happened that day. This Kyhira wedding moved to Avlemonas, a wonderful fishing village where Panayiota joined Nicholas and together they walked to the church of Agios Nikolaos.
What’s really wonderful is that most guests traveled from Australia to Greece honoring Nicholas and Panayiota Kythira wedding. The wedding moved to the hotel and the reception kept people dancing till the morning hours. The next day we had the chance to work together capturing some amazing images in Chora, Kythira.
May these photos stay with them for a lifetime!
