As a destination wedding photographer in Greece, I have the privilege of witnessing love stories unfold in some of the most breathtaking corners of this country. Harry and Gem’s Zakynthos beach wedding at Porto Azzuro, was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I do what I do — a day where the beauty of the setting and the depth of emotion came together in the most effortless way.
Getting Ready at a Seaside Villa
The day began atthe stunning private Stelle Mare villa overlooking the Ionian Sea. With its infinity pool framed by ancient olive trees and endless blue views stretching to the horizon, the scene was already set for something extraordinary. Gem and her bridesmaids — all dressed in the softest dusty rose — shared those quiet, tender moments of laughter and anticipation as the dress came together and the excitement began to build. There is something about getting ready with your closest people in a place this beautiful that makes every detail feel elevated.

A Beach Ceremony Framed by the Aegean
The ceremony took place on a secluded sandy beach on the east coast of Zakynthos, part of Porto Azzuro, where dramatic rock formations rise from the turquoise shallows and create a natural amphitheatre unlike anything you could design. White Chiavari chairs were arranged on the sand in a semicircle, leading the eye to a floral arch draped in soft fabric and adorned with pink and white blooms — perfectly positioned between the towering rocks and the calm, crystal-clear water.
This is what makes Zakynthos such an incredible destination for a beach wedding. The island’s east coast offers sheltered coves with calm seas, warm sand, and these spectacular geological backdrops that make every frame look like something out of a painting. No staging required — nature does the heavy lifting.
As the golden afternoon light bathed the scene, Harry and Gem exchanged their vows with the sound of gentle waves as their soundtrack. It was intimate, emotional, and exactly the kind of celebration that destination weddings in Greece are made for.

Why Zakynthos for a Destination Beach Wedding
If you are dreaming of a beach wedding in Greece, Zakynthos deserves a place at the top of your list. Known locally as Zante, this Ionian island offers a rare combination: pristine beaches with calm, warm waters on the east coast, wild dramatic cliffs on the west, and a relaxed island atmosphere that feels worlds away from the busier Cycladic islands. The summer light here is warm and golden, perfect for photography from early morning through sunset.
For couples considering a destination wedding in Greece, Zakynthos offers a range of ceremony settings — from intimate villa poolsides and clifftop terraces to barefoot beach celebrations like Harry and Gem’s. The island is well-connected with direct flights from many European cities during the summer months, making it easy for your guests to join the celebration.
